Aston Villa were given the humiliation of having to go through the replay in order to beat League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup.
Even going out and creating a major shock would have been better for the Premier League team, who appear to be going downhill with every week. Frenchman Remi Garde was brought in as the replacement for Tim Sherwood, but his arrival has done little to improve performances.Garde has tried various managerial techniques in order to get his team going but in vain. He recently lashed out at his players after the 2-0 win against Wycombe.
Midfielder Jack Grealish has been making headlines in the last 12 months for all the wrong reasons. The lack of a professional attitude from the players has been singled out as one of the reasons for Villa struggling in the league. The club are bottom of the table despite having been undefeated in the last three league outings. The club will need more than just draws in the remaining league encounters in order to get out from the relegation zone. They already trail Sunderland by six points with 15 games left in the campaign.
Villa had to come up with second-half goals in order to be the League Two team. "It was his [Grealish] first game for quite a long time, I haven't seen exactly what I've wanted to see him from him tonight. The team I started tonight had good players and we should have done better. We were the Premier League team tonight and I didn't see that. But everyone knows this type of game is sometimes a trap and we got the victory. We were disappointing for the first hour or so, technically poor,” said Garde, whose team are up against West Brom in the next match.
