One of the major wins of the last summer transfer window was how English Premier League club Aston Villa were able to successfully hold on to their captain and star midfielder Jack Grealish. The England international midfield superstar was heavily linked with a move away from the club and even almost came close to joining Manchester United but the move collapsed after both United and Villa could not reach an agreement for the transfer to happen.
After the move broke down, Grealish was then convinced by Aston Villa manager Dean Smith to sign a new contract and the midfielder then agreed to a bumper fresh five-year deal which he signed after the summer transfer window closed.
Many believed that the failed transfer would have a negative effect on the player's performances on the pitch but instead, he continued to flourish brilliantly and has remained the club's best player as well as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season. His continued stay at Villa Park is a huge boost for the club and the fans but for how long will the club be able to hold on to their star man?
After signing his new contract, fresh reports surfaced that the Red Devils would be returning with a bid for the midfielder this coming summer while their neighbouring rivals Manchester City were also said to be readying a bid for the boyhood Villa fan.
However, with United already boasting of the brilliant Bruno Fernandes in their squad, Solksjær may no longer be interested in signing Grealish. But with the big-spending City now involved in the picture, it may be hard for Villa to refuse a lucrative contract offer if the Etihad club come knocking in an attempt to snatch the midfielder away from Villa Park.
