Aston Villa striker Robbie Keane has said that he is open to making his move permanent to the Midlands club.
Former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is currently on loan from MLS side LA Galaxy. He is set to return to the American club within the next few weeks, which would be a major blow for Aston Villa.
Since his arrival at Villa Park, Robbie Keane has been an extremely good player. These have led to suggestions that Aston Villa will be prepared to make a bid for the Republic of Ireland international, who has a lot of Premier league experience.
Aston Villa are currently in a difficult situation right now. Prior to the arrival of former Birmingham city manager Alex McLeish, Aston Villa were challenging for the European places. However, the negative tactics employed by Alex McLeish coupled with the poor quality of players has meant that Aston Villa are now struggling down at the bottom of the table, with the threat of relegation still looming large over Villa Park. So far, Robbie Keane has scored three goals in six matches for Villa. As a result, it is thought that Aston Villa would be interested in making the signing permanent in the summer.
“There’s been talk about me staying on at Villa but LA Galaxy are my parent club and I have to respect them. In March they have some big games – there is the start of the new league season and a quarter-final in their Champions League. I’ve enjoyed my spell here at Villa. It’s a great club but it was my choice to go to the States," Robbie Keane said when asked about his future. Robbie Keane has played for the likes of Tottenham and Celtic during his long tenure in the British Isles. It would be interesting to see if he would return back from the United States.
