Paul Lambert, the man in charge of Aston Villa, has denied that he is afraid of being axed.
According to Lambert, he is encouraged by the way Sam Allardyce has turned things around at the Boleyn Ground. He believes he can also do the same.
The previous 6 matches that the Lions have played in the English first division, they have lost each one of them which has resulted in them moving down to the 16th position in the table.
Their start was decent actually. With 3 wins in the first 5 games, they were sitting quite high in the table, but, there has been a sudden deterioration ever since.
There are rumours that the Villa owners have started looking beyond Lambert and he might be sacked soon. But, that isn’t worrying the 45-year old Scottish manager.
Talking to the reporters the other day, Lambert said, “I am not afraid of anything. A lot of managers have been in this situation and they have been able to come out of it. Take Sam for example. He didn’t have a particularly good time last season, but, this summer you see, it’s entirely different. So, things change. You’ve got to hang in there.”
“It’s absolutely normal on the part of the fans to react in an angry way when there are regular negative results, but, that doesn’t mean they have stopped supporting us. During the Tottenham game, we had a lot of support. So, I can’t really complain.”
Aston Villa’s next game is against West Ham United at Upton Park this Saturday. The Hammers are in top 5 in the table with 18 points in 11 games. They have won 5 games, have drawn 3, while, in the remaining 3, they have been defeated. Their goal differential is +5.
