The season is almost approaching midway, but Aston Villa have managed only one win in the league so far.
This disastrous form sees them already cut off from the 19th placed team in the Premier League – Sunderland. Remi Garde was brought into improved results, but almost no positivity has been experienced by the team since he replaced Tim Sherwood in November. It remains to be seen if any arrivals in January will help the team. For the time being, the manager has to place his belief on the existing group of players. One of the promising names in the squad is Ghana star Jordan Ayew.
The forward helped Villa get at least a point from the recent away match against Newcastle United. The home team had opened the scoring through defender Fabricio Coloccini in the 38th minute. Just when it seemed that Villa were heading for their 12th league defeat of the season, Ayew stepped up with a mount of magic in the 61st minute.Garde appears to recognise that there are few alternatives for him left when it comes to the attacking sense. He has tried to improve the confidence of the team by branding Ayew as the saviour for the club.
It remains to be seen if this move pays off. Villa have some important fixtures coming up against teams around them like Sunderland."He is a very gifted player. He works so hard in the training sessions to give the best for the team. I am very happy for him.I believe he could score goals for us in the second part of the season. He's got the pace. He's got the stamina as well. He's a special player. He's a decisive player and hopefully he will score more goals," said the Villa manager. The team’s next match is at home against West Ham.
