Arsene Wenger has been under increasing pressure this season with some fans even calling for this replacement.
Failure to deliver the title since 2004 has caused exasperation within the Arsenal fans and they have been calling for the board to sack the French manager. Banners have been displayed regularly during football matches to call for Wenger to resign.
However Arsene Wenger has been receiving backing from both his current and former players stating that he is the best man for the job.
The most recent one has come from defender Laurent Koscielny acknowledging that the current manager is the best man for the team and that it is up to the players to ensure that they win the remaining matches to keep their chances of winning the title alive. The French defender has asked fans to remain behind the team and to stay positive for the remaining matches of the campaign.
Mesut Ozil on the other hand has denied media rumors that he was going to leave Arsenal if ever Wenger stayed as manager next season. On his twitter account, the German midfielder has stated that Arsene Wenger was the main reason why he joined Arsenal and that he is still interested to work under the French manager. Indeed, there has been growing speculations that Mesut Ozil would be leaving the Gunners next season considering that he has yet to sign a new deal.
Ian Wright, former Arsenal striker has also given his backing to Arsene Wenger arguing that it is up to the players to deliver the goods. The former England striker believes that there are players that will need to leave the team at the end of the season and that new faces should be brought in if Arsenal is ever going to challenge for the title again.
